Carpet Cleaning Products

There are hundreds of products out there than can clean your carpet. Whether you can to eliminate stains, get rid of nasty smells, or just try and make your carpet look like it did when you first bought it, there are professional products that can do the job.

You can also take the more DIY approach and use many ingredients that you would more commonly associate with baking, to get the job done.

Carpet Cleaning Solution
Commercial carpet cleaners can be expensive to rent, but what makes them truly expensive is the solution that goes in them. This is scam, so beware.

Simple Green
This is one carpet cleaner that you can purchase almost anywhere in the US. It is safe, effective and most importantly it is cheap (often only $10) a bottle. So be sure to look for it when you are searching for a carpet cleaning product.

Baking Soda
Baking soda cleans and deodorizes just about anything, including your carpet. You can either sprinkle the baking soda on and mist the area with warm water or you can make a baking soda paste by adding water and scrub the paste into really tough smells and stains. You can even keep your carpet smelling clean and fresh by sprinkling baking soda on the carpet everytime before you vacuum.

Elbow Grease
The problem that most people encounter when they have a carpet is that they only clean it once a year so they have no choice but to rent a carpet cleaner. However, a mixture of ammonia and water, with a little vinegar can make all the difference if you clean it once a month. Most of us have better things to do with out time, even doing this once a season will go a long way to keeping your carpet looking new.

Windex and Water
Some people say that using Windex and water is the best method. I am not convinced however. After trying this method once, all I was left with was a bizarre smell. You may want to experiment though, because it is very inexpensive.

Vinegar
Not just for fish and chips anymore! In a ratio of 1 part vinegar and 10 parts water, try this solution. It will get rid of all the spots and it will clean the steam cleaner as well. It’s also great because you don’t have to vacuum up all of those suds afterwards. Not only that but it is organic and extremely environmentally safe.

Club Soda and Salt
This may seem like an old wives tale but this little wonder can do the trick of any synthetic cleaning solution and at a fraction of the price. Although they may not admit it, many professionals will use this.
