Simple Steps for Cleaning Marble
Cleaning marble is not like cleaning cheap, replaceable linoleum or plastic
because marble is delicate and can be easily scratched. Even a cleaner that
is mildly acidic can damage the surface of your marble. So stay away from abrasive
cleaners and even vinegar.
Use these guidelines when you clean your marble:
- The best way to clean your marble is with warm water
- Dip a sponge or mop into the water and wring it out as much as possible
- Wipe down the marble surface
- Dry the surface thoroughly immediately after cleaning
Drying is an essential part of the marble-cleaning process because if marble isn’t dried properly it will easily spot. And everyone knows that spotty marble is frowned upon.
Salty Grapefruit Stain Removal
Taking stains out of marble can be a pain, but this natural method seems to
work quite well.
- Spread salt on a cutting board
- Cut one grapefruit in half and dip it into the salt
- Rub the salty grapefruit onto the marble surface, making sure to rub with the grain, instead of against it
- Wipe the marble surface with a damp cloth
- Dry the marble surface
Lighter is Better
When it comes to cleaning marble, less is more. So, if you need to use a cleaning
product for sanitizing and stain removal, go with the lightest one available. Also, be sure to stay away from any product containing alcohol or acid because
these will most definitely strip the surface of your marble.
There is more to cleaning marble than slopping around a soggy mop and sometimes the cleaning process can involve time and patience. But after you have invested the time you will see that there is nothing quite as beautiful as the brilliant sparkle of clean marble.
