Diffuser
A diffuser creates tiny air bubbles when air passes through it. Generally, a diffuser is a tube or plate that is very porous. As air passes through the pores in the diffuser it is turned into hundreds of small bubbles. A diffuser makes up part of the impeller, and helps to push water directly to the center of the impeller. Diffusers may also be used as an overdrain on a sand filter. These help to distribute water evenly over the sand media beds in the filter.
