Gas Ranges
The gas system in your home is similar to your
plumbing system. You have gas running from your utility meter to the appliances
in your home powered by gas, such as your stove, heater, hot water tank and
perhaps even your dryer.
One of the most common items to use gas is a gas range. Many people prefer a gas range because food is cooked much quicker than with an electric stove. But there are other benefits, as well as drawbacks, to a gas range.
The Differences
Many gas ranges also include elements powered by electricity,
including the interior light, the clock and/or timer, and the spark ignition. If your stove is of this variety, your burners will fail to light when the electricity
is off.
Ranges whose burners rely on electricity tend to have more complicated issues associated with them. This is because the inner workings of a gas-only range is less sophisticated.
Getting Some Heat
Regardless of whether you have an all gas or partially gas range, there will be times when your pilot light
will need to be relit. The range top will be something of a no-brainer, but
relighting the oven pilot can sometimes pose a bit of a challenge.
