Heat Exchanger

In order to move heat from one area to another you will need a heat exchanger. In most pools, the heat exchanger is located in the heater itself. The heat exchanger allows the heat produced by the heater to be transferred to the water.

Most heat exchangers consist of a bunch of metal tubes with fins located just near the heat source. A piece of equipment, like a copper tube, is immersed in water and used to transfer the heat to the pool.

A condenser is one popular type of heat exchanger. Solar hot water heat exchangers are also available.
