Title of Question:
2 year old concrete drive deterioration

| Question: What can be done to fix a 2 year old concrete drive that has bad pitting, flaking and holes? We also have a crack in one of our walways. We think an inferior job was done when the new concrete was installed. We paid extra for 6 1/2 bag cement mix and the drive used steel reinforement instead of mesh. The road department does use salt in the winter on the roads. It rained heavily several hours after the cement was put down. Our contractor says, sorry, we have salt damage. At this point, who can we talk to and what can we do? |
Post Your Answer To The Question Above:
| Answer: I'm sorry this is happening, as it seems like an aggravating home improvement project! I think we can surmise that there was something wrong with the way they poured the concrete. Otherwise, it wouldn't show so many signs of deterioration. I would try getting estimates from other concrete contractors regarding fixing it. I don't know if they can remove the "bad" layer of the concrete and patch over it and make it look as seamless as possible? I would focus on checking references and going to see other work the contractors have done. Hopefully, you can avoid another bad contractor tale. |
