Answer: The requirements will vary by state and municipality. Some states require licensing and others do not. I would call your state government and find out which department handles contractor related licensing. They should be able to fill you in on the requirements. Some states want you to be bonded and carry a certain amount of insurance, which is a good idea anyway. Also check with the building departments of the towns you plan to work in and ask if they have special requirements. You may just need to register as a contractor or have a state license. Good luck.
