| Answer: Hi Mary!
I think that tile could work nicely for you in your basement. One question first, though: Do you have any water or moisture problems in the basement? If so, it would be best to get these resolved before investing in any type of new floor covering. If you know that your basement has been less than watertight in the past, you should consider adding an underlayment to serve as a vapor barrier, such as a cement backer board. If your basement floor has always been bone dry and perfectly flat, however, you could lay the tile directly on top of the floor. It is very important that the concrete is flat, though, because if it is not, it can cause the ceramic tile to crack over time. Hope this helps! |
