Can you shingle over Architectural Shingles

| Question: Has anyone ever shingles over a layer of architectural shingles (Timberlines) with another layer of architectural shingles? If so how does it look? Should you not do this because the first layer isn't really flat to begin with? |

| Answer: It's been done many times. It won't be "perfect" but the dimensional shingles usually hide imperfections. You will want to use medium to heavy weight shingles, usually 300 pounds per square or heavier. Also, be sure to use long enough nails so that the nails fully penetrate the roof deck. |
