| Answer: This is a tricky home improvement dilemma. The answer depends on how much water you're trying to block and where it's coming from. A newly poured concrete floor will add a good barrier, but it won't solve the water problem. If you're getting seepage when it rains, it's best to first address that problem with grading (away from the house), downspout extenders and then, if needed, drain tile and/or a sump pump. If you just add the new concrete you might still get water coming in from the walls or another place, as it will eventually need a place to go. I'd price out the drain tile and sump pump route first before going to the expense of new concrete. |
