| Question: Would like to DIY project with IPE decking. Not sure of whether to use hidden fasteners or screws. Has anyone worked with this IPE decking, or have experience? I am still debating if hiring an experienced carpenter is a better way to go. |

| Answer: While I am not familiar with that particular type of decking, I can tell you that putting a deck together is no easy task. If you don't have the carpentry skills, I would recommend hiring a contractor. There is a lot of skill involved in laying out the boards and making the deck secure. You'll be much happier with the results. Maybe you can find a contractor who will let you help on parts of the project. This will help you save some money and learn a lot in the process. |
