Question: How do you fix slanting floors?

Answer: The answer depends on why they are slanted. Is it because they are old floors in an old house that has settled. In that case, you can fix it, but it gets costly and you run the risk of throwing off the way the house flows. Areas such as baseboards and door trim might have to be adjusted or removed in order to take up the floor and level it. I've always voted for living with the character versus tearing all your floors apart. If, however, it is one room and the floors were improperly installed, then you'll need to remove the floor, add a durable underlayment and make sure it is all level before reinstalling the floor. Not an easy home improvement project, but it can be done!
