Q&A | Roofing : Hole in roof

Title of Question: Hole in roof

Name:Tim Britcher  City: Ashmore, Il
Question: Last month I hade a large branch fall from a tree and land on my roof. After removing the branch I found two small holes in the roof that go all the way through the decking. I put new shingles on the roof 4 years ago and do not want to redo the whole roof but am unsure as to how to patch these holes. The holes are about 10 inches around. I used three tab shingles and have two layers on the roof now. It is a peek roof that is not real steep. I would like to cut out the bad sections and replace the decking but am not sure where to start and how to blend the new shingles with the old ones. Any help would be great
