Answer: Hi Kathy! The furniture cushions do not necessarily need to match the floor tiles. A room that has too much of just one color can feel dull. What is much more important is that the colors work together harmoniously. Your floor sounds like it is a pretty neutral color, so many different colors should look good with it. Because crimson and green are both earthtones, like your floor, I think that the colors would look nice together. If you stick with this same palette of warm earthtones in the rest of your room, I think that you should be in great shape. There's a decorating concept called 60-30-10. Rooms that are 60% of a dominant color (the floors and walls), 30% of an intermediate color, and 10% of an accent color tend to be the most pleasing to our eyes. Right now, it sounds as if you have the 60% represented by the desert-like colors. For the 30%, I'd suggest you go with the crimson. Think about adding some crimson throw pillows or curtains. That leaves you with 10% for the green. Look for accessories and knickknacks in this color to add some dramatic interest.
