Question: Is it too early in the year to plant evergreen trees? I'm in Michigan and it's pretty warm here. Should I wait until fall?

Answer: I know it's tempting to want to get trees in the ground, but you really should wait until mid September. It's just too hot right now for planting transplanting and you risk getting the trees off to a stressful start in their new environment. Wait until it's a little cooler and you have an overcast day. Those are the best conditions. Landscaping contractors also suggest planting by early October so the trees have some time to adapt and start their root systems before the cold weather comes in. Also, make sure you water well before the frost hits, as the trees store their water for the winter months. Good luck!
