Title of Question: Removing Toilet before Placing new Flooring

Name:Aaron  City: Commerce Twp
Question: I have a smaller bathroom, only 8' x 6', I was wondering it anyone have ever left the toilet attached and places the new flooring around it. i was looking to do vinyl flooring, and possibly cutting the section right behind the toilet and gluing it down. i was wondering if there is anything wrong with doing this. Thanks Aaron

Answer: This can be a tricky home improvement project, but it is manageable with a special trick. You'll need to make a template of the floor that shows where the toilet is so you can cut the vinyl using the template and get a good fit. Start with heavy paper that won't rip and lay it against one side of the toilet. Cut the edge so the paper fits snuggly against the side and forms the shape of the bottom of the toilet. Repeat for the other side and tape both sides together. When you're done installing the vinyl, just caulk the small gap between the floor and toilet. Hope this helps!

Answer: removing the toilet is much easier and the flooring will look much better when the job is done.
