Title of Question: Repair a half-cut tree trunk?
Name: hong kong tree-lover City:Question: One of our large trees was mistakenly cut. The chainsaw got 1/3-1/2 way through the trunk before the chainsaw-user was stopped. The tree (which was leaning anyway) is now being supported by a large metal post bolted to the ground, with the trunk resting on a half-circle at the top of the post. There is already new growth on the tree, but is there any substance that we can pack into the 'wound' on the tree, so that it can help it to heal? We live in Hong Kong, and there are lots of termites around, so we are worried that without packing the chain-sawed bit, the tree will be open to infestation. Any ideas are greatly welcomed.
