Repair or Replace?

| Question: Dear Sir or Madam:
Many of the surface boards on our 10-year-old wooden deck (46 x 21) are dry and splintered. The previous owner had never treated it (first 8-years) and I probably went overboard power washing and sanding it 2 years ago when we moved in. At this point, the deck has turned gray again and many of the surface boards are splintered or have (some 1/8'' wide that run ten feet or more!).
I have spent many days lately filling and sanding down the damaged planks. Unfortunately, the patches are too light colored to match the sanded wood and the rest of the wood is still gray as stone. At this point, I don’t know if it will be worth the effort to continue repairing it? From what you've heard, do you feel that the surface boards are worth repairing? Will the filler substantially reduce the rate of continued splitting or will they return next year too? Are there other factors I should use to decide whether to repair or replace the surface boards? Thank you in advance for your advice!
