Question: I have a slow-draining bathtub. It's on the ground floor, with a very slight pitch to the main soil pipe, but it's always worked. I've taken the clean-out cover off the soil pipe behind the tub and run a hose into it to the main soil pipe and run hot water through. No problem. Put the cover back on, tub still drains very slowly. If I then turn the faucet on in the lav next to the tub, water backs up into the tub, but if there is no water standing in the tub and I turn the faucet on, it does not back up.
