Title of Question: Vent flashing leaking
Name: Jay City: Ontario
Question: Just found that water is leaking through my furnace vent flashing. Two questions, which I think I know the answer to, but want confirmation. The water looks like it is coming in between the bottom edge of the flange and the shingle. I can actually see a small crack of light through this (from inside the attic). Is it correct that I should definitely not be able to see through? Last question. If I look up into the cone of the flashing I can see light in the space between the top of the cone and the vent. Again, is it correct that I should definitely not be able to see any light through this. I know it is supposed to be caulked and I assume it wasn't clear caulking. Okay last question this time. Is the bottom edge of the flange supposed to be caulked? Roof is 8 months old.
