Question: How often should I water my plants? I tried every day when I first planted, but some seem water logged.

Answer: It's easy to get overzealous with watering, but every day is too much for most landscaping plants, with the exception of hydrangea and some others that wilt in the heat. If there is no rain, try every three days, but check the soil first. If it is dry to about two inches down, then it's time to water. Most plants benefit from drying out and then getting a slow drip soaking for 15 minutes or so. Also check the information that came with the plant. Some prefer moist soil, while others (like roses and phlox) can get fungus if watered more than every three days and if watered on the leaves too much. (Water the ground, not the plant).
