Answer: First, walk around and make a list of the places where air is getting through. On a windy day, try holding up a candle near door and window openings to see if air is blowing through. If the opening is small, try that foam weather stripping sold at home improvement and hardware stores. You just peel off the backing and stick it in place along the edges where the door and framing meets. Look at the threshold of the door, as that often lets air in. Also check the caulking to see if it needs to be replaced. You shouldn't need to hire a contractor unless you get into reframing windows or other carpentry projects. If your windows are in bad shape, consult with a contractor about options in replacement windows.
