Question: How do you attach a molding when there is no studs to nail it to?

Answer: The tricky thing is to find the studs, as there have to be some somewhere in the walls. There are "stud finders" you can buy at hardware and home improvement stores that will make the job easier, but they are not as effective with plaster walls. If you have plaster walls, try knocking on the wall in different places. You'll hear a more solid sound in areas where the studs are. Or, if there is an unfinished basement or attic, you may get a glimpse of where the studs are running and how far apart they are. Another option is to start looking a few inches off of a window or door frame. Good luck!
