Answer: Hi Kent, You'll want to check what the rules are in your area, but in general, the minimum height for a ceiling is 7'6". If your attic's roof slopes, a certain percentage of the ceiling, usually 50%, must meet this minimum height requirement. Also, there are often rules about the minimum width of the room. Many cities require the width to be at least 7'. If your roof has a steeper pitch, you should have more usable room than a roof with a gentler slope. Make sure you take into account the height of the floor joists when you are making your measurements. Hope this helps!
