Answer: A basic remodel of a small bathroom can run anywhere from $7,000 to $15,000 or so. A lot depends on labor costs in your area and whether you plan to do some of the work yourself, such as the demolition and the painting. One thing to realize is that when you remove a bathtub you end up ruining the wall and floor tile and it's easier to just gut the room at that stage. That's where some of your costs go. As you get estimates, ask the contractors to break out each stage so you know how much the demolition will be. Then price out all the fixture, either online or by going to a home improvement or bath shop.
