Answer: Hi Ed! Stain removal from marble is not always easy because marble is porous, so it really drinks in the stain. The only way to remove the stain is to make a poultice, which will draw the stain out of the marble. First of all, you'll want to remove all of the wax that you can from the table. I suggest you use a credit card because it will be gentler than a metal scraper. Next, you'll need to decide on ingredients for your poultice. Poultices consist of a powder and a chemical solvent, which attacks the stain. For the powder, you could use talc, diatomaceous earth, or sawdust. Citronella candles tend to be pretty oily, so I would use a chemical that will get rid of oil, such as ammonia. Mix up a paste of the powder and the ammonia, wet the stain with distilled water, and apply the poultice to the stain. Put some plastic wrap over it, and let it sit for around 48 hours, or until the poultice has completely dried out. Scrap it off and rise the area with distilled water. If the stain remains, you can keep reapplying the poultice.
