Question: I have black marble in the shower of our new home. When it drys it drys with a white film over it. What is the best way to remove this film?

Answer: Hi Steve, Marble is quite a delicate stone. It etches easily if any sort of acid is applied to it. Even spilled orange juice can etch marble. The film on your marble shower is probably created by mineral deposits that have formed as the shower has been used. When you're cleaning it, be careful that you are only using products that are designed for marble. You can find them at marble and tile supply houses. These products are pH balanced so that no etching will occur. Also, avoid scrubbing. Use only soft cloths on the marble. Once you've got the deposits removed, wipe down your shower after you use it. It's a pain, but it keep your marble in great condition.
