Q&A | Bathrooms : cleaning spots on a marble floor

Title of Question: cleaning spots on a marble floor

Name:Lynn  City: Ellicott City
Question: after our cleaning lady left, we noticed several spots on the marble floor in our powder room. She says she just washed the floor with warm water, but the spots are there. Looks like something that she dripped along the floor. We tried cleaning with warm water, but it is not removing the spots. Any suggestions?

Answer: I would call a local stone fabricator and ask them what to use. Most stone retailers sell their own version of cleaners that are designed for stone. It sounds like the cleaning lady used a general household cleanser on the marble and that's what stained it. I am wondering if a diluted vinegar solution would work, but I would hate for you to try it without talking to someone in the marble business first. Good luck – you should be able to find a fabricator in the yellow pages or check with a local kitchen showroom or home improvement store for sources.
