Answer: Hi Dan! First of all, you should never use an abrasive product to clean stainless steel. It can damage the finish. Second, you always should rub the stainless steel with its "grain" rather than across it. Going against the grain can lead to scratches. Instead, you'll want to use hot water mixed with dishwashing liquid, which will be more gentle. Rub the stainless steel with a sponge, rinse, and dry with a clean towel. Make sure that you do a thorough job of drying the stainless steel. If you don't, you can end up with water spots. Finally, apply a stainless steel polish (make sure that it is safe for use on stainless steel appliances), and follow the directions on the package for buffing the stainless steel to a nice shine. This is more of a major cleaning job to be done once a month or so. To keep your dishwasher clean and shiny in the meantime, wipe it down with a sponge containing hot water and dish detergent. Again, make sure that you get the stainless steel completely dry afterward to prevent streaking.
