Question: Soda was spilled on my table. It completely took the varnish off. How can I repair?

Answer: Depending on the type of wood and the extent of the damage, you may need to strip the finish off and varnish it again. If it took off varnish in a large area, you probably will have to do the whole table in order to make it all blend in. I know this makes for a longer home improvement project, but it will look much better in the end. Good luck!

Answer: Hi Sharon! I agree with Allison about the refinishing, but I just want to add that it sounds like your table might have been due for refinishing anyway, if soda pop alone could get the varnish off. Go with a polyurethane varish when you refinish, and you should be good to go for years to come.
