| Answer: The deck should be proportional to the size of your house, but basically as large as you can manage from a cost and maintenance standpoint. Most decks today start around 200 square feet and go to 400 square feet or more, depending on the yard. As with patios, most people find that they can always use the extra space for seating or storage. Contractors suggest laying a garden hose in the yard to show where the deck would go, then place your table, grill, etc. in the space to see how it will look. |
