Title of Question:
diverting water around chimney
Name:Travis City: Simpsonville
|
| Question: My brick chimney is constructed on the side of my house in the middle of the pitch, so the roof does not completely surround the chimney. When it rains, water has a tendency to run to the chimney, hit the flashing and then run down the side of the house which is causing rot issues with the siding and trim work. Is there a way to divert the water when it hits the chimney down the roof to the gutters rather than down the side of my house. |
Post Your Answer To The Question Above:
| Answer: Without seeing it personally, my first response would be Yes. There are always ways to divert water. It might be through the use of a "cricket," which is a water diverter constructed from wood or sheet metal that is "roofed in", or it might be a more simple diverter using a piece of sheet metal that is bent on site. A good roofer can be pretty creative with a piece of sheet metal. |
