Answer: Hi Mary, There's a good chance that your fan limit switch is malfunctioning. This does tend to happen in older furnaces. To see if the fan switch is your problem, remove the front cover of the furnace while the fan is blowing the cooler air. You'll see a metal box inside. Give it a gentle whack with your fist. If the switch isn't working, the whack will make it work, and the furnace will turn off. Whatever you do, do not open the metal box. There's a powerful electrical current inside, and it can give you a terrible shock. If you find that the fan switch is the issue, you will need to have it replaced. Once that is done, your problem should be solved.
