Question: i would like to remove a radiator, could you tell me how to turn everything off or what is needed to turn off before removing the rad

Answer: I'm assuming that you have a hot water gas boiler if you have radiators. Before removing a radiator, you have to determine how the system is set up. Most radiators are all connected on one set of pipes, so that you have to drain the whole system before taking off one radiator. (If there are shut off valves on the radiators, you're lucky and can turn off just that radiator, but depending on the age of the house, most houses weren't designed that way). To take down the system you have to find the spigot on the boiler where water can drain out, then attach a hose and run it to a floor drain or outside to drain the water. Then turn off the system and there should be a valve to turn to open the pipes and let the water out. Once it drains, you can remove the radiator. If you have any doubts, I'd call a plumbing or heating and cooling contractor.
