| Question: I,don't know how to cut the angles where the excess carpet fits into the corners. Nor,do I know how much to leave along the edge, next to the wall,to be tuck, between the tackstrip and the wall. |
Post Your Answer To The Question Above:
| Answer: Ideally, if you haven't already secured the carpet, you can lay it out, cut the edges and then push it back into place to see how it fits. It's like laying floor tile, where you should lay out the pattern first to see how it fits. If you've already secured it, you can either take the screws or staples out, which will be time consuming, or use a sharp exacto type blade to gently cut it. You would try to pry up the corner and measure, then cut. In terms of the spacing against the wall, one quarter inch should be plenty, but it will depend on how thick your edging will be to cover the gap. |
