Answer: This sounds like a fun home improvement project. To determine the size of a kitchen table, measure the space and think about how you plan to use it. Is it the only table for eating? Will you use it for most meals or only infrequently? You'll want to leave 3 to 4 feet around the table to allow for traffic flow and people moving chairs around. If there are only 1 to 4 people in the household you can get by with a small square or round table (perhaps 42 inches by 58 inches), but if you have more you should think about a rectangular table. If you want an easy to clean surface, try a wood veneer or laminate versus solid wood.
