Answer: There are a few routes you can take. Many landscaping companies will draw a plan of your yard for you and either charge you for the plan or include their fee as part of their work to plant it. If you think you'll be doing most of your own planting, then look for a company that will sell you the plan (some companies won't, as they want to sell the full package). Ask friends for references and go look at yards they've done. It's important to get an overall plan, even if you will plant in stages, as it gives you an idea of where you're going. Otherwise, you'll run into trouble by adding plants in a sporadic manner and it won't all blend in.
