Post Your Answer To The Question Above:
| Answer: Bad lighting can really doom a kitchen, I know. My guess is that you have a fluorescent overhead light and nothing that is more direct to your cooking and eating surfaces. Undercabinet lighting is a great help with meal preparation, as it adds light in front of you instead of creating a shadow as the overhead light does. You can talk with an electrician or handyman about the cost. There are some inexpensive kits with round puck lights that are sold at home improvement stores. If you don't mind going into your ceiling, another option is to add three or four canned lights that will shine down on the countertop area. |
| Answer: Hi Tom! If you're looking for a solution that requires absolutely zero technical know-how, try moving a couple table lamps into the kitchen. Make sure that they are not within splash distance of the sink. They might provide enough good, warm light to counteract the fluorescent lighting all by themselves. If this is the case, you can go shopping for lamps that complement your kitchen design and color scheme. |
