Answer: You have to try to find the cause of the mold. Is there a leak that is sending water through? Is the mold in just one place or a large area? If you have access to the wall on the inside, see if you can find any evidence of where it might be originating from. When you do wash the vinyl siding, are you using a bleach and water solution? I'm not sure if that will discolor the siding, however, so you may want to test it in an inconspicuous spot. I hope this helps.

Answer: Hi Dan! To me it sounds as though the problem is not with a leak. Sometimes siding just gets moldy, especially if conditions where you live have been very wet and humid lately. One thing to check is your gutters. The next time it rains, go out and take a look at them. Are they directing the water to the downspouts, as they should, or are they dripping some of the water down onto your siding? If they are dripping, give them a good cleaning because this could be contributing to your mold problem. Also, do you have any landscaping plants growing close to the siding? If so, they could be hampering air flow to the siding and increasing moisture levels around the siding. Trimming them a little bit might help to increase air flow, and in turn, discourage the mold. Allison's suggestion of the bleach and water mixture is a good one, but be careful if you are using it around plants because it can harm them as well as the mold. When you do your washing, use a soft-bristled brush rather than a cloth. This will get into all the little indentations in textured siding to ensure that you get rid of all of the mold. Hope this helps!
