Question: Our stove just broke and we're going to be redoing the kitchen in a few years. Should we get the big range we really want or buy a basic stove for a few years?

Answer: I think you're better off buying a small stove, unless you know that you have space for a larger stove and are sure about your future remodeling plans. If you already have a layout and know where a 36-inch range will go, that's one thing, but how much reshuffling would you have to do right now to fit it in? Would you have to take out a cabinet or two? Also, you have to think about venting for an industrial type range. I'd say, spend $700 on a basic range and then you can sell it, donate it or move it to the basement when you remodel the kitchen.
