| Question: where can I find out if my old vinyl flooring has asbestos. We want to remove it and replace with hard wood. |
Post Your Answer To The Question Above:
| Answer: There is no accurate way to identify asbestos by sight, although some floor materials (9 by 9 tiles, for example) produced at certain times likely contain it. If you need to remove the tile because it would not work properly to install the wood floor over the tile or it would raise the height of the floor too much, contact a licenses asbestos inspector. They will do testing to determine if it is asbestos. You don't want to rip up the floor or do other home improvement projects that might damage it without knowing. Here's a link to some helpful information on testing. Good luck.
