Question: Our roof does not have an overhang therefore our window wood frames are rotting. One carpenter said he could add an over hang.will gutters protect our house just the same? please help.

Answer: It's a good idea to also have roof overhangs because they help shield the windows from all the elements. Gutters are designed to divert water away from the house, but they should not be the only line of defense. I would talk with a few contractor to determine the best and most economical way to do it.
