Answer: While paint colors are a very personalized decision, I think you'll be happier with no more than three colors. This will make your house flow more smoothly and help the eyes glide from room to room. The way to add more drama is to use varying degrees of each color. When you look at the paint cards for the two or three main colors, it works well to go up or down a color or two in a few rooms for emphasis. Whether you are painting yourself or using a contractor, try a few samples on the walls before committing to buying all the paint. Live with the samples for a few days before you decide. Good luck!

Answer: Hi Suzanne! I agree with Alison. Choosing two or three colors and using shades of these in each room will definitely give your house a more unified feel. How is the inside of your house set up? Does it have an open floor plan, in which you can see several rooms from any one room, or is it divided into more discrete spaces? This might also affect how you use color. Seeing three different wall colors all at once in an open floor plan might be kind of overpowering. What if you keep track of paint colors that you love but are not using on the walls, and keep them in mind for accent colors and accessories? That way, you could still incorporate all of your favorite colors in your interior decorating.
