Answer: Yes, sheetrock can be placed over plaster walls. In fact, many people do this to avoid major plaster repair. The one thing you have to consider with this type of remodeling, however, is that you will be changing the thickness of the wall. This means that your door and window trim and baseboards mostly likely will not line up after the sheetrock is on. The solution is to take the trim off (label it so you know where it goes back!) before adding the sheetrock, then trim it as needed to make it all blend together. Good luck!
