Q&A | DIY : quick fix in attic

Title of Question: quick fix in attic

Name:Terry  City: San Diego
Question: We want to add carpeting and a few lights in our attic so our kids can play, but we probably will redo the whole area (800 sq ft) later and make it into rooms. How can we do this economically?

Answer: I think that's a great home improvement idea. I would look for one or two areas to focus on. If you have electricity already in the attic, it shouldn't be too expensive to put in a few outlets and overhead lights. The electrician should be able to tell you where it would be easiest to add lights and outlets. Then check out a home improvement store or carpet outlet and look for remnants that you can just roll down yourself. I wouldn't go to the expense of having carpeting installed if you might tear it out later. You could just staple it down with some padding underneath. Good luck!
