Title of Question:
re-glazing wood windows

| Question: I'm replacing the missing/brittle window putty in my 100 yr od home in Slidell, LA.The first four(4) windows I first primed the wood with KILZ Latex, then DAP putty(knife grade). After a period of several weeks (I'm away a lot), I primed with Glidden GRIPPER Latex, followed by a latex exterior finish coat. NOW! I read the DAP instructions to use only oil-based primers before and after re-puttying. After all that beautiful work I'm not about to remove and redo. QUESTIONS: Do you know of products (knife grade) that are suitable with latex paint, which are easier, faster, etc., than oil primers that take much longer to finish?
With the windows that I've completed, using the latex sealers/primers vs oil primers, what can I expect in durability? |
