Answer: Hi Jeff! I've been researching hidden fasteners for my own deck project lately, and I turned up something that might help you. They are called "Tiger Claw." Rather than using the biscuit joint system, which can mean that you'll have to do a whole lot of routing, the Tiger Claw has several sharp barbs on two sides. You hammer one barbed edge into the side of a board using their included installation kit, and then you put your next board in place and hammer it into the barbs using a sledge hammer. It seems as though it would be much quicker than the biscuit and slot route. They have different types of fasteners for hard and soft woods, as well as composites, so I'll bet there's a type that will work well for your redwood deck.
