Answer: There are several tools that will work. I would check with a home improvement store or hardware store. We have used the flatter side of a small crow bar with some success. It depends on how large the staples are. If they are the industrial ones used for laying floors or carpeting, this would likely work. A local hardware store could probably steer you in the right direction. You'll also want sturdy work gloves, as this can do a number on your hands.

Answer: We are doing this right now, and I have found that needle nose pliers work wonders! Slip one side into the staple, grasp it firmly, and gently twist. The staple will wind around the pliers, eventually pulling out of the floor. Try not to lay the pliers on the floor or you will create gouges! Good luck!
