Answer: When you talk about resurfacing a kitchen countertop yourself, it really depends on the material. Laminates cannot be repaired, but it is possible to apply a new piece of laminate to plywood and create your own countertop. This requires a fair amount of skill to get it to lay properly, etc. Solid surface countertops can be sanded to remove minor scratches, but otherwise you would need to go through a fabricator for a new countertop; same with granite. If the countertop is wood, you can sand and restain and seal it. If you can provide more details, I'll try to be more specific
