Answer: Hi Jen! First of all, to get the tar off your son, you'll want to apply some ice cubes to the tar. This will make it harden so that it is easier to peel off. There will probably be a residue left behind. You can scrub this off using an abrasive soap, or you could even try using an exfoliant for face or body if you've got one on hand. The key is the gentle abrasive action. For your bathroom, you'll want to try applying something oily to the stains on the porcelain, tiles, and countertops. Baby oil and petroleum jelly are both good options. The baby oil also works to remove tar on skin. If you've got carpet in your bathroom, you should first try to blot up as much of the tar as possible. Then, there are a number of things you can try. People have had good results with both WD-40 and rubbing alcohol. I'd test these in an inconspicuous spot on your carpet first. If you use the WD-40, make sure that you get it all blotted up from the carpet. It can attract more stains if you do not.
